The Explorer

It’s always nice to get an opportunity to explore around the province for a change of scenery with some free time. Last week I did just that over at Niagara-on-the-Lake with a visit to Two Sisters Vineyard.

As for my outfit, I went with a basic summer look that you can give the green light to at almost any time of the season when heading out. Cream white curved hem tee, black washed denim shorts, with a pair of black slip on vans (as seen in previous S18 posts), and a watch. Just simple and on point.

The big 2 0. My life has been quite the journey thus far from major setbacks, to a change of dreams, and most importantly to break throughs. The one thing that has stuck by me over the last few years is the ability to adapt. No matter how much preparation, no matter how hopeful, and no matter how careful, you never truly know how life may come striking at you at the most unexpected times. Adapting for me has been the ability to absorb the “hit” that life serves from time to time, while breaking through stronger, faster, smarter, and wiser than ever during that process.

This past weekend I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to celebrate my birthday over at Pick6ix! A striped shirt, cropped jeans, and a pair of Vans were all that was needed for this memorable day. I accessorized the outfit with a pair of specs, a watch, and a couple gold chains.

A special thank you to all my family who attended and made the night possible!

Summer is officially here and with that being said, I wanted to share my first look for the season from this past weekend.

You can never go wrong with a short sleeve button-up shirt in the summer time. I paired the shirt with black denim shorts and black slip-on vans to compliment the navy while being comfortable which is always a bonus when dressing to head out. I accessorized the outfit with a pair of blue tinted sun glasses and a watch to add to the street vibe.

As you can see I went for more of a casual summer look on this particular day, but plain coloured short sleeve shirts can also be dressed up depending on occasion as I’ve shown at the end of the first SS18 post.

I have never come across a more relatable tweet over the years. This is simply because I view myself as someone who is willing to take a step out of the “norm” and stand for what I truly do believe in rather than picking up on negative things to “fit in” and setting myself back as an individual. The truth is, we can all search and find some sort of negative component from anybody out there no matter who it may be and use that as an excuse for our own negative actions or beliefs. Instead, you can simply flip that approach and challenge yourself to search for the good in any individual and apply it your own life to further advance. As simple as it sounds, it’s quite rare due to many people imprisoning  their own minds and thinking they are entitled to certain lifestyles. Set free and keep pushing.

As a continuation of my previous post (SS18 II), this is the “HYPE BEAST FLOW”. Hard to miss at just about any time of the day, the rose gold Supreme x The North Face metallic parka was one of the most sought after Supreme collaborations that have dropped in 2018 thus far.

The “base” of this entire outfit was showcased in the previous post (from the sneakers, joggers, socks, and t-shirt). It was a no-brainer to throw on a flashy parka with the outfit due to the basics allowing for versatility with colour choice and according to any possible weather changes during the spring/summer. Aside from the hype, the Supreme x TNF parka makes for a great transitional jacket that can be utilized as we make it further down the year as well during the fall/winter.

I’m going to step away from the fashion/hype talk for just a moment and share an interesting perspective on a common theme which exists on a daily basis. Over the years, I’ve noticed that many individuals feel a certain level of competition amongst each other which leads to nothing more than mental barriers being created. I say “mental barriers” due to the fact that many people are so focused on gaining that competitive edge on another person that it only caps their own happiness and success. There are many who will see others as a threat to themselves and flood their own minds with nothing but negativity.

The point here is, every individual looks to utilize their abilities in some shape or form whether its through work, academically, or interests they may have, and there will always be someone or something to measure up to. We live in quite a closed world of our own and when you view things on a more broad-scale, the amount of real-world competition is countless no matter which field you’re aiming to make your mark in. Often misunderstood, but the only way forward is to genuinely support and love one another and fuel off of each other’s successes no matter what people are hoping to accomplish. Once people are ready to release themselves from these self-created barriers, they will begin to see things with a clear eye view and realize the only competition in life is yourself.

Personally, I’m more than aware of the negativity that comes along with putting myself out as a “blogger”, but whether reactions are positive or negative, I view it all as love at the end of the day and consistently look for ways to improve in every aspect possible. I’m a product of inspiration that I openly take from anywhere or anyone and will only continue to examine how I measure up to who I was yesterday.

Vibrant, loud, crazy, or however you want to put it. As I’ve previously said, fashion is one of my favourite ways to express myself without actually verbally speaking. For someone like myself who constantly searches for ways to grow in different aspects of life whether it’d be mentally or physically, fashion serves as an outlet for me to express that growth in a variety of ways.

No matter how “loud” or “abstract” something may seem, it’s about finding happiness through your decisions whether it’s clothing you wear or just your overall perception of life without the fear of opinions. Through this post I not only showcase my latest fashion moves, but also a growing character through the fashion that is inspired by some of today’s greatest.

A comfortable mind will lack long-term growth. I apply this idea to every single day I live.

As many will claim they are not fans of the entire “dad sneaker” trend, it was only right that I took on the Yeezy approach to it with a pair of the “YEEZY 500”. Personally, I think the “bulky” sneakers are a great look for just about any given day and are an alternative to your daily casually worn shoes as the possibilities with these are endless.

Supreme x Lacoste 2018. The very trendy waist bag has made for a great “on the go” accessory. My bottoms are a pair of black vintage Champion joggers to compliment the “safety yellow” t-shirt which was purchased for no more than $10 at a local superstore. Great finds can be made anywhere regardless of the location or price tag as long as you let go of the ego which will allow for a more clear and creative perspective on things.

Thank you and stay tuned for more as I showcase my journey. -BD

Summer’s Over.. Part 2

In this second part of “Summer’s Over”, I summarize how I was able to express myself these last few months with one of my favourite street/outgoing looks for summer ’17.

Loud print shirts. I found that printed shirts this summer were a great way for me to express my personality through what I’m wearing and add some fun into my wardrobe.

I completed this look with some mid wash skinny denim and classic dark navy mid Chelsea boots which are one of my go-to’s. Chelsea boots can be either a hit or miss depending on the style of your jeans and overall outfit which is very important to keep in mind when trying to incorporate them into any look. Pairing them with skinny/slim fit denim is the best way to go as the way the denim falls down and hugs the top of the boot is a major key.
